Hi. I'm back with another head sculpt (go figure). This was made shortly after the one from my last post, but only rendered it today. It has some weird shapes and I'm not quite happy with it, but it looks like a head and it served its purpose (training / stop me from being such a lazy bastard).

Head Sketch
Hello. Thought I could post something just to show I'm still alive. It's been a while since the last time I played with digital clay (or any clay, for that matter).
This was fun to make. I was testing some of the new ZbR2 features and had a really good time with it.
Hopefully, it won't take me so long to post again.

Getting There
Hello. I'm back with something different, for a change.
This is the kind of look I've been trying to achieve for some time now. I'm quite happy with this, even though there's definately room for improvement.

Head Sketch
Hi. This model was made before the last one I posted, but all the painting and post work is fresh new. That's all photoshop... including the hair. Now I'm posting, I just noticed the hair line is not very well positioned. The viewers right side of it should be moved slightly upwards. I won't fix it now, but I'm sure that will be the first thing I'll see everytime I look at this image.
Below are two black & white versions. I really can't decide which one I prefer, so I'm posting them both.
Hope you like it.

Head Sketch
Hi. It's been a while since my last post. That's because I haven't really done anything 3d since then. Or art related, even.
Yesterday I had some time and will to play a bit with digital clay and this is the result:
EDIT: I wanted to post another image that would show the sculpture a bit better, and when I opened the .ztl file to create a new image, it shows me an old version of it... I can't believe I have not saved the final version! I'm really out of practice.
Anyway, here is WIP image showing the last stage I saved:
By the way, I created a new blog for my 2d sketches. It's full of old stuff, but that's what I got for now. In case you want to check it, here it is: Sense the Shape (I know, pompous name, just like its older brother).

Head Sketch (With Timelapse)
New head + new timelapse (this one is HD, make sure you check it).
In here you can see some of my current techniques when detailing a head; it's not the best example... overall I'm not very happy with the sculpting part on this one, but I actually really like the final image. I've made some radical choices along the run, particularly when I changed the head shape by making his jaw way smaller. I think it kinda worked, but then I completely ruined the mouth, making it even worse when creating those terrible wrinkles bellow it. As I said... not the best exemple, but, for the most part, that's how I do it.
Btw, Youtube always choses the worse possible image to use as "thumbnail". I read it is the exact middle frame of the video; I'll see if I can do anything about it, next time.

Sculpt Timelapse
Here's the timelapse I talked about earlier. This was the real first try. I haven't recorded from the begining and also tweaked it a bit after the end of the timelapse. Wasn't really paying much attention to what I was doing; was just experimenting with the movie features inside zbrush.
About the sculture... well, it was a hard fight in some areas (mouth, especially) but I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. Only around the third minute of the video, when I switch to clay tubes, I start to visualize the shapes and directions of the face... so I guess that's a good tip... when you're stuck and do not really feel the piece, try switching to clay tubes or clay buildup, so you can more easily see what you're doing.

Head Sketch (With Timelapse)
I've been trying to record my sculpt sessions lately. This wasn't the first try, actually. I also have the previous head I posted here, but I haven't finished editing it yet. I know it's not very helpful... I know it's too fast; that's because I am too slow working and then need to compress too much content into a small size video, otherwise it would be too long and boring. I'll get better at it, hopefully.
Anyway, hope you enjoy watching.

Skull Studie
Found this skull studie I've made when Zb4 came out. I believe it was the first render using BPR. It was a simple exercise following this old tutorial. Decided to explore new techniques in photoshop and achieved something a bit drastic maybe, but it's certainly the direction I wanted, giving 3d pieces a painted look, mixed with some design elements, I guess. Next time I'll try to keep the model shapes more defined, or maybe not... I'll have to decide what is the main focus of my images: the final illustration or showcasing the model. Right now, I think illustration wins.

Happy 2011
Hello. Since this is my first post this year, let me start by wishing a great new year to you all. This is a fast doodle I've done last year, just for testing the planar brushes, as well as some of Michael Angelo Hernandez's (Mahlikus The Black on ZBC) great custom brushes. I had no specific design in mind, so the result isn't that good, but it was a good exercise, nevertheless.
